MASPIK 2.4.0 – Smarter Spam Blocking, Fewer False Positives

We’re excited to announce the release of MASPIK 2.4.0! This update focuses on refining our spam detection logic to reduce false positives while protecting your forms from spam bots in WordPress.

What’s New in Maspik?

One of the biggest improvements in this version is how MASPIK handles blacklisted words in text and textarea fields.

Previously, if you added a short word like “ad” to your blacklist, it could accidentally block legitimate words such as “shade” or “address”. This led to cases where valid messages were mistakenly flagged as spam. With the new update, MASPIK now looks for exact word matches, meaning:

  • “seo” will block “seo expert” but won’t block “theseo”.
  • “ad” will block “buy an ad” but won’t block “shade”.

This change significantly improves the accuracy of spam detection and reduces the risk of blocking genuine submissions.

Other Enhancements

Better email filtering – The blacklist now checks if an email exactly matches or contains a blacklisted term (e.g., “Seo” will block “[email protected]”).

Clearer settings page – We’ve made the settings page easier to understand.

Improved link detection – Enhanced handling of links inside text areas.

Bug fixes – We’ve fixed small issues, including a JavaScript error on the settings page and an issue with Serbian language detection.

Update Now!

If you’re already using MASPIK to block spam, update to version 2.4.0 today to take advantage of these improvements. If you’re not using MASPIK yet, now’s the perfect time to start!

What Do I Need to Do?

You don’t have to do anything! MASPIK will update automatically and start using the new improvements.

However, we recommend reviewing your blacklist keywords and refining them if needed. Previously, if you added a keyword like “crypto”, it would also block words like “cryptography” or “cryptomarket”. Now, MASPIK will only block the exact word you entered.

If you still want to block variations, you can simply add them separately, for example:

  • “crypto”, “cryptocurrency”, “cryptotrade” instead of just “crypto”
  • “loan”, “loans”, “loaning” instead of just “loan”

Feel free to check your settings and adjust your blacklist if needed.

If you have any questions or notice spam still getting through, we’d love to hear from you and keep improving MASPIK!
